Greater Accra has elected new members to steer affairs for the Rugby Regional
Association for the new term of administration.
Following a creditably
transparent elections held at the Accra Sports Stadium, Abdul Aziz Issah emerged
the New president of the Greater Accra Regional Rugby Association, GARA after
he polled nine (9) votes against his opponent Abdul Samad Said who had four.
Other portfolios were contested unopposed and candidates unanimously confirmed for
their positions. Emmanuel Linford Owusu for Vice President whiles Gifty Kukua
Aggrey becomes the new Secretary General. Amuzuloh Abdul Salim was confirmed
for technical director with Omar Sherrif Captan as the Public Relations Officer
and Nizar El-Aschkar, treasurer. Ako Wilson and Rafatu Inusah are executive
members of the new administration.
President elect Abdul Aziz Issah told SA SPORTS 360 they want to make the association attractive to the corporate world.
"The main problem of all the other sports is the issue financing and we are bent on making the association attractive to attract sponsorship from corporate world", he said.
"Over the period, we have received massive support from (Ghana Rugby Football Union) the mother Association and we believe it's time to take a step to make ourselves self sufficient". Mr. Aziz further stated.
The new administration is effective immediately and will be in office for the next four years.
